ABSS is working on an extended punch list. Graham High has a complete certificate of occupancy.

Graham High’s roof is out for design and ABSS plans to have the designs back by January.

Graham High School is in the final stages with new furniture being delivered within the next couple weeks.

The security wall and fire truck building for the fire academy have both been installed. Graham High School classrooms have been updated to include standard teaching rooms as well as shop areas. The welding shop has been upfitted with an air filtration system to improve air quality for students. In addition, water fountains have been updated to touchless water bottle fountains. Graham High School is also starting the new school year with improved restrooms that include new epoxy floors.

An RFQ has been posted for geotechnical studies at seven campuses receiving renovations. These include: Western High School, Eastern High School, Graham High School, Cummings High School, Williams High School, Pleasant Grove Elementary, and South Mebane Elementary. RFQs are due by November 8.

On June 18, 2019, the ABSS Board of Education approved Morris-Berg Architects from Charlotte to do the renovations and additions for South Mebane Elementary School, Graham High School, and Cummings High School. Since then the architects have been provided with blueprints, but no further action has been taken.

The ABSS architect/designer selection process began last November when ABSS posted the RFQ (Request for Quotes) and scheduled school visits for early December. By the January 7, 2019 deadline, ABSS received 24 architect/designers submissions for renovation projects and 13 submissions for the new high school. The selection process also included two rounds of interviews with an internal committee and a stakeholder committee.

At the June 18, 2019 ABSS Board of Education Meeting, staff recommended Morris-Berg Architects from Charlotte to do the renovations and additions for South Mebane Elementary School, Graham High School, and Cummings High School. Morris-Berg Architects will provide the following services: sealed architectural, structural, M.E.P. and FP plans, sealed civil and landscape design, owner assistance with bidding, owner/contractor assistance with permits, and project observation during construction. The estimated design costs are as follows: South Mebane Elementary School for $585,000, Graham High School for $555,750, and Cummings High School for $765,000.

The ABSS Board of Education approved all staff recommendations for architect/designers for school bond projects.

Alamance-Burlington School System staff have reviewed architects for bond projects and will provide the School Board of Education with recommendations to be approved in early June.
