The cafeteria addition and two science classrooms with labs will be completed by the end of spring break. The concrete walkway will be open in couple of weeks. ABSS will abate and replace the cafeteria floors during summer break.

Final drawings of the Press box for Eastern High were submitted to DPI on December 1, 2022. DPI had a lot of requirements, but ABSS got it right and is on the right path forward.

Currently waiting for the weather to cooperate along with the 2-week Christmas break to pour the concrete.

ABSS has installed a more prominent front entrance that will make it easier for the public to navigate. The new building includes a new classroom, a safety vestibule, and a conference room. A security wall has been installed at Eastern High School along with new awnings and ADA compliant sidewalks.

Projects are currently on schedule and on budget.

An RFQ has been posted for geotechnical studies at seven campuses receiving renovations. These include: Western High School, Eastern High School, Graham High School, Cummings High School, Williams High School, Pleasant Grove Elementary, and South Mebane Elementary. RFQs are due by November 8.

On June 18, 2019, the ABSS Board of Education approved Pinnacle Architecture from Matthews, NC to do the renovations and additions for Southern Alamance High School, Eastern Alamance High School, and Western Alamance High School. At this time, Pinnacle Design has been provided with blueprints, but no further action has been taken.

The ABSS architect/designer selection process began last November when ABSS posted the RFQ (Request for Quotes) and scheduled school visits for early December. By the January 7, 2019 deadline, ABSS received 24 architect/designers submissions for renovation projects and 13 submissions for the new high school. The selection process also included two rounds of interviews with an internal committee and a stakeholder committee.

At the June 18, 2019 ABSS Board of Education Meeting, staff recommended Pinnacle Architecture from Matthews, NC to do the renovations and additions for Southern Alamance High School, Eastern Alamance High School, and Western Alamance High School.

Pinnacle Architecture will provide the following services: sealed architectural, structural, M.E.P. and FP plans, sealed civil and landscape design, owner assistance with bidding, owner/contractor assistance with permits, and project observation during construction. The estimated design costs are as follows: Southern Alamance High School for $1,440,000, Western Alamance High School for $840,000, and Eastern Alamance High School for $760,000.

The ABSS Board of Education approved all staff recommendations for architect/designers for school bond projects.

Alamance-Burlington School System staff have reviewed architects for bond projects and will provide the School Board of Education with recommendations to be approved in early June.
