The contractor determined the location of the steel rebar in the columns that need to be installed. The contractor is now waiting on sizing and bolt pattern for steel plates. In the meantime, the contractor has scheduled with the Detention Center a time to resume work of the steel plate installation and to finish the sealing of the floor cracks.

Detention Center Wall and Floor Crack Repair - This project is still on hold until the Detention Center is able to move inmates around so the walls and floors in the cell block can be repaired.

Detention Center Wall and Floor Crack Repair - This project is on hold due to Covid and now due to lack of staff to watch the inmates. The Sheriff’s Department had to move the inmates from the Annex to the Detention Center due to lack of staff so now they are unable to move inmates around and have the cell block where the work is being done vacant. Until they are able to do this they will not be able to continue work on this project.

Bid opening was held on June 17, 2021 with two bids received. Com-Mech Contractors was the lowest bidder coming in at $38,400 base bid and $4,350 for the alternate ($42,750 total). High Rock Waterproofing bid came in at $71,800 base bid and $48,000 alternate ($119,800 total). Bids were reviewed by Alamance County Maintenance, Alamance County Purchasing, and SKA (Engineer). Alamance County is in the process of completing the purchase requisition for Com-Mech Contractors.

Pre-bidding to replace the walls and repair the floor cracks of the Detention Center is scheduled for 6-3-21 at 2:00pm. The bid will open on 6-17-21 at 2:00pm. Pre-bidding is scheduled for the replacement of the skylights on the Old Jail and bidding will open on 6-23-21 at 2:00pm.
